Tavi Castle

The construction of the fortress is attributed to the Saracens. Idrisi talks about it, in 1154, like a: "beautiful castle and a high fortalice". In 1320 it belonged to Ruggero Passaneto, Lord of Garsulliano and Palagonia. Later on it was a Blasco Alagona’s possession and, for kindness of King Martino, it went before to Antonio Ventimiglia and after to Bernardo Berlingerio di Pietraperzia. After 1487, as a result of the wedding of Belladama Alagona with Niccolò Melchiorre Branciforte, it became part of the Branciforti family’s possession. It is possible to get there from Leonforte, taking the Favara road.
